Did we ever get lucky!
Airstream held a lottery drawing of owners to have only 65 attend a private event held at their factory and corporate headquarters in Jackson Center OH to celebrate the grand opening of the new Airstream Heritage Center. We did NOT get picked! The event was to be held last September and at the last minute the canceled it due to COVID concerns. They rescheduled it for Memorial Day weekend and we just assumed the same people that won last time would go this time. We were WRONG! We got picked! What an experience!
It was a dry camping event where we all parked in the parking lot right beside the factory! This factory is brand new, at least to visitors. It came online in Jan of 2020 and they have not allowed public tours up to now. We were the first group ever to go through this new factory! Amazing! As you can see in the images, we got to park in the first row and had a perfect spot to take in all the activities.
If you are ever in northwestern OH area, you have to make a trip to Jackson Center and visit the new Heritage Center. It’s a professionally curated museum of Airstream history. The trailers, memorabilia and artifacts that they have collected are one of a kind and presented in an amazing way.
We think this is a cool picture. These two Zip Dee camp chairs are over 30yrs old and were purchased by Gina’s parents brand new. They gave them to us and we use them as campsite guest chairs. To have the brand new Heritage Center in the background of these old chairs shows that everything associated with Airstream stands the test of time!
I appreciate the airstream brand. I just like my slides too much. Having little old ladies walk through my campsite, ask me who I was with, then call me an SOB was quite the experience. While I understand it means Some Other Brand, the relish with which they said it was borderline meanness. I mean picture a woman the age of the Queen of England calling you an SOB with a chuckle and then turning to walk away. I don’t think I’m quite suited to this caliber of pretense. I do hope when I’m that old i’m still out in the wild somewhere though. Bwahahaha!
